Hyper-concentrated in active ingredients (up to 2 times more than a cream), the serum is a treatment that has a targeted action (anti-oxidant, mattifying, smoothing, anti-redness, moisturizing, etc.). It is characterized by a hyper-fluid texture, which allows it to contain active ingredients or vitamins that would be unstable in a cream. It is used in addition to the cream (which protects the epidermis), and acts in synergy with it to boost its action.
You choose your serum according to your main concern. We can therefore opt for a formula that has the same job as our day cream (moisturize, mattify, acts on wrinkles, etc.), so that it improves its effects, or prefer one that has a complementary action (for example a purifying serum combined with an anti-wrinkle cream for combination skin). Stack 2 serums? It is quite possible (we call it "layering"), provided you do not choose contrary actions (for example an anti-redness serum then a circulation booster). You can use the serum as a cure or on a daily basis (morning and/or evening, depending on the indications) and choose a serum of a different brand from that of the day cream.
Each brand sets up a ritual corresponding to its serum. The actions to be taken for maximum efficiency are generally indicated on the box. Whatever the gesture adopted, the serum is applied to a clean face, before the day or night care.
