The book Haute-à-Porter examines the relationship between haute couture and ready-to-wear collections and shows the evolution in their relationship over the past 25 years. Haute couture often makes us dizzy by the precision, craftsmanship and extravaganza that it entails. Clothes are disproportionate, unique materials are used and everything is finished by hand. But today's ready-to-wear collections also meet the classic principles of haute couture. The pieces shown on the catwalk should in theory be wearable, but in reality they are often not at all.
