Juliette Den Ouden of JDO Academy from Amsterdam, was named 'Hairdresser of the Year! We asked the lady of the night for her top hair tips for not only pros but also for our home.
“For more volume and hold, I always spray a little dry shampoo on the roots so that it falls less fluffy. This is also a very nice base for when you are going to put your hair up. Pins or elastics stay in place much longer as a result.”
“I still see the eternal pipe curl as if the curling iron is still there. It is much nicer to hold the hair if you turn it around the curling iron, which gives you a twist in the curl and therefore a much more natural effect. Then with your hands or brush through it and you have a top result."
“When you curl your hair, always curl it back, so out of the face so that it falls nicely. I see very often that one side is in the face and the other side is in the back. When you turn both sides backwards, your hair won't bother you and it fits the best!"
“If you have curly hair, use moisturizing hair products. People often use something greasy, but that does not care. Curly hair is naturally slightly drier and needs moisture. When you use these moisturizing products you will see that your curls become much more beautiful and you also have more volume.”
