Only 19% of women are satisfied with their body. 11% are absolutely not satisfied, the rest are somewhere in between. The dissatisfaction can be explained by several reasons:25% consider themselves too fat, 14% do not consider themselves muscular enough and 8% are not satisfied with her feminine form. The majority (34%) indicate that there is always room for improvement. This is apparent from research by Fashionchick.
What body would women be happy with? Both Doutzen Kroes (38%) and Beyoncé (37%) are favorites. Less popular are Candice Huffine (4%) and Kim Kardashian (3%). Remarkably enough, more women seem to crave beautiful shapes (35%) and a muscular body (23%) instead of wanting to be thin (11%).
The vast majority of women (70%) indicate that they follow health bloggers and fit girls on social media. They do this mainly to gain inspiration for new workouts (33%) and to stay motivated (21%). The influence of these healthy influencers appears to be smaller than expected:49% of women indicate that they enjoy following health bloggers and fit girls on social media, but their lives are not affected by it. A quarter of the respondents indicate that they remain motivated by the photos and videos of the sportsmen, the rest see them as an example (14%) or as a reason to eat healthier (12%).
The self-image of the respondents also seems to be little influenced by what they see on social media. 57% indicate that it does little or nothing for them. 24% indicate that they find themselves less beautiful because of the images, 13% is insecure about it. Only 6% of women indicate that they find themselves more beautiful thanks to the photos and videos they see on social media.
