Why is wet hair darker?
There are two reasons why your hair appears darker when wet:
1. The outer layer of each hair is transparent. When your hair is dry, it reflects light, making your hair look lighter and shiny. If your hair is wet, the light does not reflect off your hair, but you look through the transparent layer at the core of your hair, where the color is.
2. Wet hair sticks together, so no light shines through your hair. That also makes your hair look darker.
