Time for yourself, in this time perhaps even more important than ever. By always being on and never taking a rest, you undermine your immune system. With these tips to enjoy me-time sustainably, you can relax optimally and get back on track.
Most people are busy all day. Most of the day is worked, when you get home you have to prepare food. Then the household is done. When children are involved, they also need care and attention. On the days when there is no work, such as weekends, most people still have a full agenda. Most people don't get the necessary eight hours of sleep. It's not surprising that we get massive burn outs and have to take a step or ten backwards.
The problem with going all the time is that our body does participate (in most cases), but at some point it will come back to our plate. Then we pick up a virus and our body switches itself off. In this way we are forced to rest. To add a personal note:I always keep going until my body forces me to rest in the form of a migraine attack.
In addition to exercise and always being on, our body also needs sufficient rest and relaxation. Being kind to yourself and scheduling me-time every now and then is a must. Do something for half an hour to an hour that completely relaxes you and you have nothing else on your mind. Preferably no screen, but something that really does your body good.
There are many ways to enjoy sustainable enjoyment. Take a subscription to the library, for example, and borrow a book from there every now and then. You can read this book during your me-time. Costs a little, but you avoid having to buy a book. Another option, if you like to read, is to opt for an e-book. You are not dealing with a paper version at all. Good for the wallet and the environment.
Other tips to enjoy me-time sustainably are:
If I want to enjoy me-time, I prefer to do it in the bathroom. Lock the door and let nothing or no one disturb you. I then take an extensive bath with delicious natural products, including my Natura Siberica bath foam. Ginseng, arnica and cladonia have been added to this, which not only have a relaxing effect, but provide the skin with vitamins and essential fatty acids. During the bath I often read a magazine or scroll through my social media.
If I do take a bath, then a shave should of course not be missed. I only do this towards the end. Then a delicious scrub, in which I also opt for an organic variant of Natura Siberica.
Before I get out of the bath, I also take care of my hair. Because I follow the CG method (Curly Girl) method, this is slightly different than most. For the CG method I also only use Eco products. I currently have the Flora &Curl organic rose &honey cream shampoo and the TJK 4-in-1 conditioner in the scent amber rose. When my hair is still wet, I comb it with the Denman brush.
After washing there is a whole routine, which I take plenty of time for. You have to do something if you want beautiful curls 😉 After washing I also use the TJK as a styling product in combination with my Fora &Curl sweet hibiscus curl defining gel.
For the finishing touch, I occasionally use a nice color on my toenails. And sometimes on my nails too. I don't do the latter too often, since I often bake and then I prefer not to have nail polish on. As far as nail polish is concerned, I only have sustainable and organic brands at home. Think of ZOYA, ZAO and Sophie. These fall under the so-called BIG 10 FREE nail polishes. Also ideal if you are pregnant and looking for safe and durable nail polish.
As you can see, I prefer organic, sustainable and ECO products. That is a conscious choice, because I prefer not to use chemical things on my skin and hair. This not only reduces my ecological footprint, but I know for sure that my body only gets what it needs. Don't forget:our skin is the largest organ and all the substances you use penetrate into your blood through your skin. In this way, chemical substances enter your blood easily and quickly. Do not you want that? Make the switch, consciously choose pure products from nature (hahaha… that almost sounds like an advertising slogan).
What do you do to enjoy your well-deserved me-time sustainably?
