Shower gels with improbable scents (bubblegum) and which tear the skin, I can't take it anymore!
And I pass over in silence the price of these small chemical bombs.
So I turned to DIY shower gel recipes.
I found some nice ones, but not always easy to make or with ingredients that are quite expensive...
In the meantime, I discovered the benefits of horse chestnuts and the many things you can do with them, including shower gel.
And for that, you don't need 1000 ingredients:just 3 that cost nothing!
Here is my natural and moisturizing recipe for chestnut shower gel . Watch:
- 5 horse chestnuts
- 300ml of water
- 1 organic apple
- 1 heaping tablespoon of psyllium
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil
- 1 knife that cuts well
- strainer
- pan
- glass bottle
- salad bowl
Preparation: 6 mins - Cooking: 10 mins
1. Cut the chestnuts into slices and grind them into a powder with a hammer or blender.
2. Put three tablespoons of chestnut powder in the pan
3. Pour the water over it.
4. Clean the apple under hot water.
5. Cut the apple into small pieces (or finely grate it on a grater).
6. Put the apple pieces and seeds in the pan.
7. Let simmer gently, covered, for 10 minutes.
8. Strain the mixture through a colander or through a cloth into a bowl and let cool.
9. Return the mixture to the pan and add the tablespoon of olive oil.
10. Add the psyllium seeds and leave to infuse in the pan for another 5 min.
11. Bring to a boil again on medium heat then reduce the temperature until the mixture has the consistency of an egg white.
12. Pass the mixture through the strainer again to remove the seeds.
13. Pour everything into the glass bottle.
And There you go ! Your super moisturizing chestnut shower gel with apple scent is already ready :-)
Easy, fast and natural, right?
And it costs almost nothing, because the chestnuts are free and the apple too if you have a garden!
All you have to do is use it in the shower and smell that good apple smell. A real treat!
You will see, it does not foam like a commercial shower gel, but the skin is gently washed thanks to the saponins contained in the chestnuts.
No more feeling of tight skin! You can even wash your hair with it.
You can also flavor your natural liquid soap with a quince or a pear. The product will keep for about 1 week.
If you have very dry skin, olive oil will allow you to deeply moisturize your skin.
If you don't have psyllium on hand, you can substitute it with flax seeds or a little agar-agar.
These products are used to naturally "gel" the shower gel to prevent it from being too runny.
