The business of influencer blogs and Instagram accounts has not escaped the notice of Yiwu Industrial and Commercial College in Zhejiang Sheng, China. Young people (and not just them!) are addicted to their smartphones and spend their day browsing from account to account, watching images and videos of food, lifestyle or even fashion and beauty. The school has therefore just launched a new “modeling and convenience” course, which in reality aims to teach students to become great bloggers or Instagrammers. Crazy!
But then, what is the content of this course, which is original to say the least? You will learn how to perfect your poses, exacerbate your fashion sense, make ultra-sharp make-up tutorials, use Photoshop or even study the ideal times to post. It seems rather unusual but when you think about it, not so much. China has 1.3 billion people, 700 million of whom use smartphones. For the moment, the course has only attracted female students (there are only 34 registered at the moment).
And when you also think about it, it is even rather logical that China is at the origin of this concept. We know how much Asian tourists love to take pictures of just about everything they see or do:food, shop windows or clothes, including selfies. Being an influencer today is a real business that can pay off big:EnjoyPhoenix earns around 19,000 euros per month for its three YouTube channels, while the American SevenSuperGirls earns 234,000 euros per month and product placements on Instagram can bring in up to at 50,000 euros per month. When is the sector in France? Would you sign up?
